The Scarred Lips’ Debut Single

The Scarred Lips, the Austin-based project led by songwriter Brad Brockman, has released a new single titled “Oklahoma Red,” now available on all major streaming platforms. Recorded at Red Cent Studio in Austin, the track was produced by Craig Kierce and Greg Warns and continues the project’s focus on narrative-driven, emotionally resonant songwriting.

“Oklahoma Red” is a lyrically dense, songwriter-forward track that places storytelling and language at the center. Built around Brockman’s detailed, deliberate writing, the song unfolds with restraint while carrying an emotional weight comparable to artists like Nick Cave—moody, measured, and quietly powerful rather than overtly bombastic. The result is a song that rewards close listening while maintaining a heavy, atmospheric presence.

The Scarred Lips are a familiar presence in Austin’s live music circuit, playing regularly throughout the city—particularly along the clubs of 6th Street—where their performances have earned a reputation for intensity and immediacy. “Oklahoma Red” captures that spirit in recorded form while allowing the songwriting to remain front and center.

The band is currently working on a follow-up single, scheduled for release this winter.

“Oklahoma Red” is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and all other major streaming platforms.
